Any change? Any change?

Sunderland striker Nicklas Bendtner shocked diners in his native Denmark by resorting to begging for someone to buy him a late night pizza.

The on-loan Arsenal man called into Pizza Huset after a drunken night out with actress Julie Zangenberg. With a taxi waiting outside, Bendtner ordered two pizzas.

Unable to pay by credit card (our Danish isn’t good enough to work out if this was because his card failed or because Pizza Huset don’t accept card payments), the Denmark international demanded to be given the pizza for free. When the staff refused to supply complimentary late night snacks to the wealthy footballer, he resorted to begging for someone to pay for him.

A 22-year-old carpenter, who witnessed the incident, said: “He was fucking arrogant and brought forward, as if he owned it all. All the people just stood and looked at each other and shook their heads over the way he behaved.”

A member of staff at Pizza Huset also corroborated the story that Bendtner tried to play the fame card to get free food.

He said: “He played really stupid. When he could not pay, he demanded to get free pizza and said: ‘Don’t you know who I am? I can buy the whole pizzeria.’

“No, we told him that it did not matter who he was. If he could not pay, there was no pizza.”

Eventually, for reasons we can’t fathom, two young girls took pity on Bendtner and paid his £13 bill for him. The 23-year-old returned to his taxi a happy, drunken pizza owner.
