Liverpool's kamikaze goalkeepers desperate to avoid FA Cup clash with Everton

Meet Liverpool academy goalkeeper Jamie Stephens. The way things are going at the moment, he’ll fancy his chances of getting a game in the FA Cup semi-final against Everton on Saturday.

For it seems that Liverpool’s senior goalkeepers have some sort of Wembley death-wish and are desperate to avoid the big clash with their neighbours.

First there was Pepe Reina’s headbutt on Newcastle defender James Perch, which ruled him out of the semi-final. His replacement Alexander Doni was just getting comfy in the shirt as he prepared to face the Toffees when this happened during last night’s victory over Blackburn:

The blame lies with Jon Flanagan and his dodgy backpass, but the suspension belongs to Doni. Ex-Middlesbrough keeper Brad Jones was his replacement between the sticks after coming on as a substitute for Flanagan.

It was all going well until the Aussie goalie decided to do this:

The match officials took pity on Jones and Liverpool, and he was only shown a yellow card.

Still, you never know what’s going to happen in the early stages on Saturday.
