Has Diego Maradona been sacked again?
Reports are emerging this morning that Al Wasl have sacked manager Diego Maradona. Sky News Arabia and Sharjah Sports TV both tweeted that directors at the club had moved to sack the former Agentinian manager, although the club denied the rumours on their official twitter feed.
It is thought that this is, however, simply a move to quell rumours until an official press conference is announced.
Maradona was appointed to the job in May 2011, months after losing his job as the Argentine national manager, but it has not been a smooth time. Only last month he was forced to ban his goalkeeper for a year from the club after the keeper headbutted a referee during a game. In the season just ended, Al Wasl took just two points from their last six league games, conceding 11 goals in their last two. The club finished in eigth position.
