Arsenal and Man City linked with former Chelsea midfielder Lassana Diarra
Arsenal and Manchester City are both considering moves for midfielder Lassana Diarra.
The 28-year-old previously played for both the Gunners and Chelsea, but failed to make an impression at either club. He moved to Portsmouth, where his form earned him a move to Real Madrid.
He was a big-money signing for Anzhi Mackachkala in 2012 before they abandoned their policy of playing foreign stars and shipped him to Lokomotiv Moscow in August.
He has now been earmarked for a return to the Premier League, with reports in Russia claiming that Arsenal and City have contacted Lokomotiv about bringing the France international back to England in January.
Diarra signed a three-year contract worth £65,000-a-week plus bonuses when he joined Lokomotiv. Although the prospect of returning to a stronger league could tempt him, he is reportedly very happy in Russia and in no rush to leave.
He has showed glimpses of his best form in recent weeks, and was named Lokomotiv’s player of the month for November.
