We're now ten games into the new campaign and Saturday's hosts remain without a win, which is naturally a little worrying. However, there have been signs of life in recent weeks, with the men in orange delivering some improved efforts.
It's also worth remembering that Wolves have had a tough start to the season fixture wise, with them facing several top teams. Things should now get a little easier, so don't be too surprised if we start to see O'Neil's men pick up more positive results.
For the Saints, a weight was absolutely lifted from their shoulders last weekend as they got the better of Everton in rather dramatic style, with Adam Armstrong (tipped here to score at odds of 5/2) coolly netting late in the game, before the drama increased as the Toffees had a late, late equaliser disallowed by VAR.

I cannot help but side with the hosts at an early price that looks a little generous.

I know, I know, Wolves are yet to win, while the Saints are on the up having picked up their first win last weekend, but I’m not going to fall into the recency bias trap here, which is what the early market may just have done.
Had the Saints not got that win last weekend, which was a narrow one, they’d be a bigger price here, no doubt about it.
What’s more, we’ve seen Gary O’Neil’s men deliver a couple of decent efforts over the last few weeks, holding both Brighton and Crystal Palace to draws, scoring four goals across those two games.
Sure, the hosts do struggle to keep things tight, but this is exactly the sort of game where they can go toe-to-toe with their opponents and overpower them.
For my money, this Wolves team offers heaps more in terms of offensive quality, so much so that even-money (for the home win) looks on the generous side.
Let’s face it, the Saints have offered very little resistance on the road, and not just against the top teams. They folded tamely against both Bournemouth and Brentford, conceding three goals in each of those games, while they simply cannot match the hosts in an attacking sense.
While the hosts have scored an average of 1.40 goals per game at home, the visitors have scored an average of 0.60 away from home. The Saints have also performed worse in terms of both shots and shots on target conceded per game.
At the end of the day, if they’d beaten Palace last weekend, as they easily could’ve done, they’d be a fair bit shorter, which for my money, would quite honestly be a more accurate reflection of things. Value seekers should definitely take even-money.
