Rumours circulating among Cardiff City fans suggest that new Birmingham boss Chris Hughton was overlooked for their manager’s job after giving a PowerPoint presentation featuring the logo of Championship rivals West Ham.
The ex-Newcastle boss is said to have recycled the presentation he gave at his previous interview – for the Hammers’ job – when he met Bluebirds bosses in June.
Although his football ethos and plans for the club – or any other club, for that matter – must have shone through, Hughton’s attention to detail can hardly have caught the eye if, as rumoured, the presentation was littered with West Ham references.
This is one of those stories that could be true or could be an urban myth, but it is hilarious either way. If it is true it must have been nearly as embarrassing for Hughton as the time he turned up to his unveiling at Birmingham with a spear of broccoli wedged between his fingers.
