A world where Mick McCarthy would be content

As much as we all immensely enjoyed the international break, the Premier League is back. And with it comes the Off The Post podcast, hungry for goals, starving for stats, and ready to tuck into the highs and lows of the weekend’s action.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Paddy is back and taking his place in starting line up, so it’s set to be a four-way assault on the delicious spread that the nation’s top clubs have put on for us this week. How nice of them.

On this week’s show we’ll be chomping down some of the following: the Bolton survival steam train chugging up the table, Steven Gerrard leaving skid marks on the Anfield turf, why Emile Heskey could do a job in the heart of the England defence come Brazil 2014, a Bahrain international violently enters the record books, and some calamitous goalkeeping from the African Europa League. Yummy.

Two Wolves fans engaging in a “peaceful protest” at The Hawthorns. When the pitch starts cutting up at Christmas time, we won’t be blaming the groundsman.

This player from the Bahrain national team now holds the record for the fastest ever red card in an international match having been given his marching orders after just 34 seconds. Get the rubber ducky out-that’s a very long early bath. Wrinkly.

A goalkeeping howler/scoring from own half combo in the semi finals of the African Europa League. Something for Birmingham and Stoke to aspire to, no?

The writers of Australian soap Neighbours have found a bizarre way to crowbar a reference to Serbia into the show through describing the talents of Milan Jovanovic. I imagine none of them made it to Anfield last season then.
