Wolves striker Steven Fletcher seems to be on his way back to the Premier League, with a move to Sunderland looking increasingly likely. But whilst Fletcher has been important for Wolves since his move from Burnley, comparisons to the greatest player in the world seem a little steep.
Wolves’ new manager Stale Solbakken ploughed on with that thought however:
You don’t replace Fletcher overnight – that’s impossible. It’s a long, long month now coming up, but at the moment he’s a Wolves player and we’re planning with him. Everybody at Wolves wants to keep him. But even Lionel Messi has a price.
Yes Stale, Lionel Messi does have his price, as does Steven Fletcher. It’s just that Lionel Messi’s price is about 15 times higher than young Shrek’s.
Which makes me daydream. A version of Shrek with Fletcher as the ogre and Messi as the little curious donkey? Just a thought…
