West Ham captain Kevin Nolan has done his best to bring any Hammers hanging on to the memories of their ‘World Cup-winning’ squad by saying manager Sam Allardyce deserves to be a top club.
The midfielder, who had previously played under Allardyce at Bolton, reckons Big Sam deserves to leave the East London minnows behind and manage one of the big boys.
He said: “I think the boss deserves to be mingling with the top managers week-in week-out.
“After working with him for a long time, I firmly believe he belongs in the Premier League and I’m a bit gutted he hasn’t been given the chance with a really top club.”
Perhaps a fair assessment of the Hammers’ current place in the world, but not one that supporters will be keen to hear their skipper spouting.
