There is an awful lot to like about Benoit Assou Ekotto as a footballer. This is a man that admits to not particularly liking the sport, and therefore is able to leave his job at the end of the day, rather than allowing it to encapsulate every aspect of his life. He enjoys winning, we’re sure, but doesn’t take it too seriously.

In the same way, he also comes across as a thoroughly nice chap, aware of the privileged position he finds himself in and therefore happy to share with others.

The photo above was tweeted by the Spurs defender whilst in Tanzania. Assou Ekotto has been granted extended leave from pre-season training after being involved in Cameroon’s World Cup qualifiers, and has used the time to help support a street children project in the East African country.

Good to see indeed.
