Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has withdrawn from tonight’s match between England and Scotland with an eye infection – a move that seemed to be predicted by United’s website a week ago.
Carrick has left Roy Hodgson’s squad to return for treatment from the champions’ medical team to get ready for the Premier League opener against Swansea.
This makes it all the more bizarre that on August 6 United’s website published a story entitled: “Carrick: One eye on Swansea.”
Strangely prophetic.
