Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Feyenoord defender Stefan de Vrij, according to reports.
Incoming United boss Louis Van Gaal has pursued his Netherlands connections to push for the signing of the 22-year-old – and a transfer is now on the cards.
De Vrij was a target for Serie A side Lazio but United have now hijacked the deal, claims Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The highly-rated centre-back is expected to link up with his current national team boss at Old Trafford next season.
Van Gaal is keen to secure new centre-backs ahead of his debut season in charge of the Red Devils, with Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand having both left the club.
A move for Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen is also reported to be on the cards.
