Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has dropped a clear hint that he intends to sign his compatriot Daley Blind.

The Dutch defender increased speculation over a possible move when he admitted he could not turn down joining up with Van Gaal.

The 24-year-old played a key role in the left wing-back position as the Netherlands reached the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup.

The Eredivisie club’s youth team coach Richard Witschge had fuelled the flames of a possible move after revealing a move seemed very likely with the 24-year-old training alone.

And now Van Gaal has appeared to hint a bid for Blind could be imminent. “If they are at the level I want them to be, then I will sign Dutch players. Nationality isn’t something that concerns me,” he told the Sunday Mirror.

“But Dutch players are usually cheaper than players of other nationalities and they have usually been very well educated in the Netherlands, I believe.

“But they have to be of a level than can play well in the English Premier League. You have to ask if that is the case with every player.”
