Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs reportedly flew to Turkey on Thursday to scout Abdul Majeed Waris.

Giggs was dispatched as United step up their scouting of the former Forest Green Rovers reserves striker, claims the Daily Mirror.

The Ghana World Cup star, aged 23, was playing for Trabzonspor against Belgian side Lokeren in the Europa League.

Waris joined Trabzonspor from Spartak Moscow in September.

Last season, he scored nine goals in 16 games during a loan spell at French outfit Valenciennes last season.

He was the top scorer in Swedish league football in 2012 when he played for BK Hacken.

Before that, he was a further education student at Hartpury College, in Gloucestershire, and turned out for Forest Green Rovers reserves.

Waris has three goals in 14 international caps for Ghana. He played 71 minutes in his nation’s 2-1 defeat to Portugal in the World Cup during the summer.
