Algeria World Cup star Islam Slimani has confirmed that he received an offer from West Ham.
The Sporting Lisbon forward says the Hammers tried to sign him at the end of last season, but he opted to stay with the Portuguese side.
Slimani, aged 26, says he wants to win the title with the team he joined in 2013, but indicated that he would be tempted to move to West Ham at that stage.
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, he told French publication Le Buteur: “It is true that there was an offer from West Ham, but I was happy with my team and I made a good choice.
“Stability is positive. I have to work harder to make progress and then I think of the output. I am focused on finishing the season at full strength and win a title, at least. Then we’ll see. Maybe next year.”
