After Chelsea wrapped up the signing of Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado in a £26.1m deal, the next question is, will he play for them?
It looks like a straight shoot-out between the Colombian international and Willian for the right-wing slot (although Cuadrado’s arrival might allow the Brazilian to challenge compatriot Oscar for a central role).
There is good news for John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic: Cuadrado is currently the most fouled player in Europe’s top five leagues.
That was a title held by Eden Hazard earlier in the season, which means that Blues are now likely to be winning lots of set-pieces on both flanks.
In terms of pass completion, dribble attempts, shot accuracy and duels won – let alone goals and assists – Cuadrado comes out on top of Willian on every count, which suggests that Jose Mourinho has secured an upgrade for his squad.
