Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a £12m bid for Burnley striker Danny Ings, according to Sky Sports News.

The England Under-21 international, aged 22, is set to quit Turf Moor when his contract expires at the end of June.

He is likely to be available for a compensation package of £5m at that stage, with a move to Liverpool seemingly the most likely.

But it appears Spurs will now try to preempt Ings’ free transfer by offering the relegated Clarets considerably more to sell him to them before his contract expires.

Other reports, including one written by The Independent‘s Sam Wallace this morning, also claim that Spurs are in the running to sign Ings, but claim that they are pursuing a similar £5m-£6m compensation deal to Liverpool.

A move to White Hart Lane would see Ings partner 21-year-old Harry Kane in an all-English strikeforce for Mauricio Pochettino’s side next season. The pair could lineup together for England Under-21s in this summer’s European Championship.
