Liverpool have activated Charlton Athletic teenager Joe Gomez’s £3.5m release clause and the player will undergo a medical tomorrow, according to Press Association Sport.
The England Under-19 international will meet Reds officials on Merseyside on Friday and looks set to finalise a switch to Anfield.
Gomez, aged 18, has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs in recent months following his impressive displays for the Addicks. But it appears that Brendan Rodgers has won the race to sign the starlet.
Official confirmation that the deal is done is expected next week, the report claims.

The Catford-born 6ft 2in defender broke into the Charlton team at right-back but prefers to play at centre-back. Comfortable on the ball, his future is expected to be at the heart of defence.
His arrival will reportedly pave the way for Uruguay international Sebastian Coates to complete a permanent switch to Sunderland.
