If the Premier League is all about power, height is always likely to be an attribute that is of use to managers. With that in mind, who are the tallest players in the Premier League for the 2015/16 season? Let’s find out with a look at the biggest talents – in height terms, at least – in the English top flight.

1. Costel Pantilimon (Sunderland – 203cm / 6ft 8in)

Sunderland goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon is the tallest player in the Premier League. And he has two centimetres to spare over his nearest rival for the title. The 28-year-old Romania international has held the title since arriving at Manchester City in 2012 (only former Everton loanee Lacina Traore, also 6ft 8in, has matched him).

=2. Peter Crouch (Stoke City – 201cm / 6ft 7in)

The archetypal tall Premier League player, Crouch is still the English top-flight’s tallest outfield player. The 34-year-old is no longer a regular starter, but definitely gives Stoke another option.

=2. Fraser Forster (Southampton – 201cm / 6ft 7in)

In equal second and the same height as Crouch is Southampton keeper Forster. He was nicknamed the Great Wall by the Spanish press during his time at Celtic as a result of his stature and blocking abilities against Barcelona.

=4. Thibaut Courtois (Chelsea – 199cm / 6ft 612in)

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is the first player on the list who is shorter (if that’s the right word) than two metres tall. He falls a centimetre short of that milestone, but the Belgium international is still the Premier League’s fourth tallest player.

=4. Brede Hangeland (Crystal Palace – 199cm / 6ft 612in)

A long-term giant at the heart of Fulham’s defence, the big Norwegian is now plying his trade for Crystal Palace but still cutting an imposing figure.

=6. Per Mertesacker (Arsenal – 198cm / 6ft 6in)

BFG (Big F**king German) is how Arsenal fans know their senior centre-back. The stats back up that analysis. The World Cup winner is the third tallest outfield player in the Premier League.

=6. Asmir Begovic (Chelsea – 198cm / 6ft 6in)

A second Chelsea keeper in the top five. Begovic is a couple of inches shorter than his team-mate Courtois, but is still one of the biggest players in the Premier League.
