Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in Nigeria Under-17 duo Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Nwakali after they caught the eye in the recent Under-17 World Cup, according to the Daily Mail.

Osimhen, aged 16, won the golden boot and set a new U-17 World Cup goalscoring record with his haul of 10 goals.

Nwakali, aged 17, was named as the player of the tournament. The playmaker captained the Nigeria side and chipped in with three goals.

Tottenham Hotspur are also said to have an interest in Osimhen. They have reportedly lodged an enquiry after the youngster’s goalscoring exploit.

But Spurs plan to do further scouting and research before pressing ahead with any deal.

The report claims they have reservations having swooped to sign Ivory Coast striker Souleymane Coulibaly after he finished as the golden boot winner in 2011.

But the 20-year-old failed to live up to his early promise and is now playing for Peterborough United.
