Liverpool yet to pay a penny to Burnley for Danny Ings

Liverpool have yet to pay Burnley a fee for striker Danny Ings, according to Clarets boss Sean Dyche.

The former England Under-21 international left Turf Moor at the end of his contract last summer to join the Reds.

But because of his age – 22 at the time and 23 now – Burnley are due a transfer fee for the move.

The two clubs have been unable to agree on what that fee should be, so the matter is due to be resolved by a tribunal.

The tribunal has not yet taken place and Dyche is hoping that it happens sooner rather than later so that the Clarets can get the money in the bank before the next transfer window.

He told the Daily Mirror: “It’s not helpful. Like any business, ideally, you get funds in and then you look and say ‘what can we put out’. That is a grey area for us with no knowledge of where it will end up.

“So that is a challenge. But they are the rules, whether we agree, like them or dislike them, they are the rules.

“We are certainly hoping it’s by the end of the season, to bring closure for everyone, for all parties.”

Dyche continued: “We’re all of the thinking it should be a considerable deal. We don’t know how considerable, but we’re certainly thinking more than a couple of shekels.

“It would be helpful to know that’s done, it’s parked, the club has got ‘this’, we can use ‘that’, so let’s go and use it.”

Ings, who scored 11 Premier League goals for Burnley last season, had scored three goals in five games for his new club before sustaining a serious knee injury in November.
