Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has turned down the offer of a new job, according to Dutch newspaper AD

As we reported recently, Van Gaal was rumoured to have been targeted by the Dutch FA to take the new role of technical director and oversee the Netherlands’ revamped national academy.

But today’s report suggests that the veteran Dutch coach has turned down the offer of that job.

With some reports still suggesting that United will sack Van Gaal, aged 64, this summer and replace him with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, the Dutch FA post was touted as a tempting opportunity.

But the ex-Netherlands coach has reportedly now told his former employers that he has no interest in taking the technical director post.

Instead he will focus on trying to secure his first silverware at United in the FA Cup and trying to finish the Premier League season as well as possible.

The same report claims that Van Gaal’s future will depend on how United fare in the coming weeks.
