Middlesbrough midfielder Marten De Roon got a lift home with a group of fans after Saturday’s 1-1 draw at West Ham United.
The 25-year-old Dutchman was selected by doping testers after the game. By the time he had managed to perform the task at hand and provide his sample, De Roon had missed his train home from London and his team-mates had long gone.
But help was at hand in the form of a group of Boro supporters who drove their summer signing back to Teesside.
