The former England colleagues saw their season come to a close after Cole missed the decisive penalty in a shootout against Colorado Rapids yesterday.
After the match, Cole posted on Instagram to say sorry to Gerrard. He made it clear that he does not have the inside track on the Liverpool legend’s plans, but he is widely expected to leave the Galaxy and hang up his boots.
Cole wrote: “A special thanks and apology to the legend that is Steven Gerrard. I don’t know what’s going to happen but it’s been a pleasure to play alongside you for club and country.”
