Between now and the start of the US Open we are going to see a range of smaller tournaments, all of which will give players a chance to show off their current form.

Here are 6 players we think have a good chance of winning the tournament and one wild card – and you can check out Fanduel’s odds to win the Golf majors here.

Wild Card pick – Joel Dahmen – USA

We have chosen Joel Dahman as our wild card pick because he is fresh off his first PGA win in 2021.

Dahmen has been playing golf professionally for a little over 12 years now, but 2021 was the best year of his career. He won his first PGA tournament – the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship.

While the odds of Dahmen winning are fairly low, we think that the skills that he showcased at the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship could serve him well in the US Open.

#6 – Bryson DeChambeau – USA

Bryson DeChambeau has a total of 10 professional wins – 8 PGA victories and 2 European Tour wins.

His first major win came back in 2017 when he won the John Deere Classic and his most recent PGA Tour win is Arnold Palmer Invitational.

DeChambeau is already a US Open champion, he won the tournament in 2020 beating Matthew Wolff by three strokes.

Will DeChambeau be able to win the title for a second time this year?

#5 – Dustin Johnson – USA

World number 4 (and former world number 1) Dustin Johnson has 28 professional winners under his belt.

Justin is a former US Open champion – he won the tournament in 2016. He also won the Masters in 2020 and the PGA tour in 2020. He has spent a total of 135 weeks as the world’s number 1.

Johnson has won the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, BMW Championship, WGC-Mexico Championship, FedEx St. Jude Classic, Sentry Tournament of Champions, and The Northern Trust multiple times. Will he be adding the US Open to this list?

#4 – Hideki Matsuyama – Japan

In 2021, Hideki Matsuyama became the first Japanese man to win the PGA Masters Tournament. This was his 15th career win but his first PGA major victory. He has won 2 PGA tournaments since – most recently the Hawaii Open.

He has won 8 Japanese majors, 8 PGA majors, and the World Challenge.

Matsuyama played on the amateur circuit for 3 years before turning professional. Matsuyama turned professional in 2013 and played on the Japanese circuit for a few years before joining the PGA tour.

This year, Matsuyama won the Hawaii Open, scoring 23 under par, winning via playoffs.

#3 – Rory McIlroy – Northern Ireland

Rory Mcllroy has 32 professional wins, is a Ryder Cup Champion, and is a US Open champion. He has spent over 100 weeks as the world’s number one during his career.

Mcllroy topped the World Amateur Golf Ranking at the age of 17 and is one of the most successful European golf players ever. He was the youngest player ever to earn £10 million on the European tour at age 22. He represented Europe in the Ryder Cup 5 times, winning 4 times.

The last time he won the US Open was in 2011.

#2 – Brooks Koepka – USA

Brooks Koepka is a 2-time US Open Champion and a 2-time PGA tour champion, who is a former world number 1. He has 15 professional wins, 8 of which are PGA wins.

Koeplka’s last win came in February 2021 when he won the Waste Management Phoenix Open for the second time.

He last won the US Open in 2018 and he also won the competition in 2017. In 2017 he won by 4 strokes and he won by a single stroke in 2018. He has not played in the US Open since his 2018 win.

#1 – Jon Rahm – Spain

Our number 1 pick is the current world number 1 – Jon Rahm of Spain.

Rahm won the US Open last year, he was the first Spanish man to win the tournament. He finished 6 under par and beat Louis Oosthuizen by one stroke. This was his last professional victory.

At the start of 2022, he beat the PGA record for the Sentry Tournament of Champions with 32 under par. However, Cameron Smith finished on 34 under par and won the title.

We believe that Rahm has the talent and the ability to return to the US Open and take the title.
