As they lost in Oslo in rather tame fashion, the last international break wasn’t a huge success for the Slovenians, though as we sit four games into the campaign, the men who’ll play in front of a home crowd in Ljubljana on Thursday evening likely won’t be too displeased with their progress.
After four games played in UEFA Nations League B, Thursday’s hosts find themselves sitting on seven points, level with both Austria and Norway. That calls for praise.
For the visitors, it’s a slightly different story. Unlike the hosts, who will absolutely be happy with the fact that they’ve so far cut it with the big two in the group, the Norwegians will likely be a bit disappointed that they’ve not done more.
Following what was a pleasing home win in the reverse fixture, Ståle Solbakken’s men came unstuck away against Austria, losing in incredibly tame fashion, conceding five goals in the process. They’ll now be looking to bounce back.

Alexander Sorloth to Score
The one positive of Norway’s thrashing in the Austrian city of Linz was another Alexander Sorloth goal. The forward has been in fine form for his nation in recent months, so much so that he looks a little generously priced here.
Such is the hype around Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who alongside Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard is a star player for the current Norwegian crop, Sorloth goes under the radar a little, but the Atletico Madrid man is no bit-part player in this team, not in the slightest.
Having scored for fun at Villarreal last season, notching 26 goals in all competitions, Sorloth has had to play more of a supporting role in Diego Simeone’s ever-changing Atletico line-up this season, but for his nation, he’s a regular in the team and it’s easy to see why.
The scorer of three goals in his last five appearances for Norway, Sorloth netted in each of his country’s games during the last round of this competition, scoring in the reverse of this fixture.
If we throw into the mix an average of 0.57 goals per 90 minutes, plus an average of 2.56 shots, the 28-year-old looks a little generously priced here.
Whilst many will no doubt gobble up much shorter odds on Haaland, I’d much rather be on Sorloth, who may not be as high-profile, but has been just as useful in the colours of Norway in recent times.
