One of the very few meaningful Premier League games at this rather late stage of the season is the game between Bournemouth and Aston Villa, which takes place at Vitality Stadium on Saturday evening.

Both teams are fighting for a place in Europe next season and both have a very realistic chance of achieving their goals. A win on the south coast would massively help either, let’s be honest, so in a weekend of dead-rubbers, this could be the fixture to get stuck into. Read on for our Bournemouth vs Aston Villa player betting tips.

This game takes place on 10/05/2025 at Vitality Stadium. Kick off will be at 17:30 GMT.

Looking at the early odds, I like two player angles ahead of Saturday’s only really serious fixture, focusing on one player from each team. Give these a go (if you dare).

Morgan Rogers to Score or Assist

Few Aston Villa players have consistently delivered the level of performances churned out by Morgan Rogers this season. The 22-year-old has rapidly become a key man for Unai Emery, aiding Villa’s push for Europa with 16 goals and assists in the league.

In terms of goals and assists per 90 minutes, we’re talking about a man who delivers and average of 0.50, which is not to be sneezed at, while he also ranks as Villa’s second best player in terms of shots, as well as both key passes (= passes leading directly to a shot) and progressive passes.

Sure, it's been a little while since the Englishman made a direct goal contribution, going three games without scoring or assisting, but we shouldn’t forget that Rogers has now delivered six goals and assists in his last nine starts in all competitions. That alone makes odds of 17/10 look a bit chunky to me.

Lewis Cook to Be Carded

Those who’ve checked out Saturday’s accumulator will know that I’m sweet on Lewis Cook to go in the book at the early odds, but if you haven’t read that, let’s look at why this bet stands out from a value point of view.

For starters, Cook has picked up eight yellows in the Premier League this season, averaging 0.26 cards per 90 minutes. He’s also Bournemouth's second-most prolific fouler, while it’s fair to say that he has a habit of getting booked in big games of this nature, and this is a big game, absolutely.

Six of Cook’s yellow cards this season have come against teams either currently in a European place or teams currently fighting for a European place. In other words, he has a knack of getting booked against the better teams.

When Bournemouth recently battled Fulham, who are also involved in the dash for eighth place, Cook went into the book, while that was also the case when his team took on fellow Europa/Conference League chasers Nottingham Forest and Brighton.

We also shouldn’t ignore the fact that Cook is going to be up against players that are very good at drawing fouls, such as Youri Tielemans, who has drawn the second most fouls for Villa this season, behind John McGinn, who is also likely to operate in Cook’s vicinity.

All in all, there’s enough evidence for me to conclude that the feisty Lewis Cook is generously priced to pick up his ninth Premier League booking of the season.

To be clear, to take value, you should be taking odds that are bigger than the fair odds. If bigger odds are not available, then there’s no value, which means no bet.
